Prompt Response: A specific gender expectation that I have had to do over the years is looking pretty and "put together". When I was younger I did not know exactly what I liked to wear, but my mom assumed dresses were what I should wear. I like wearing shirts and pants rather than dresses. Once I got a little older I had more of a say in what I want to do and dress into. At first I would try to wear skirts and a nice top to make my mom happy but she still was a little put of by it. Then I fully pushed into what I wanted to wear even though it did not make her happy. At this time in my life I went to church but I eventually stopped going and did not have to dress up anymore all the time. Moving on from this I used to wear makeup but then I stopped because I felt gross and wanted to feel clean. I also just felt like I did not need it on. In the end I pushed boundaries and my family started to realize that just because I was a girl I did not need to do what society told me to do. 

Summary: Today in class we read, "I want a wife." This short story made the class realize how some stereotypes on women are not okay and should not apply in the world.

Reflection: I really enjoyed class today. Talking about women and men stereotypes is refreshing just because it is important to know about. I think some people do not realize how far things can go

My friend was cheating every weekend and her boyfriend knew but had no proof. I really liked my friend but it got to the point where I felt bad for her boyfriend. I think that if she had cheated once but wanted to change I would have never told, but It was an ongoing situation. Summary: In class we read more but I had to leave early. Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.  Prompt Response:  When I was at my family's friends house I was playing hide and seek with my two friends. During this time their dad was around a lot and did not live in Vegas at this time. A few years later his wife divorced him and now he lives in Vegas. But, one day my friends and I were all hanging out and he came down. When I was younger my ears were more out and bigger. He said that my ears made me look like a monkey. And then my friends decided it was funny and started saying it too. I think that a father should not be making jokes about his daughters friends, but he did anyways. Now, since then I always want to cover my ears and not make them noticeable. I have realized that I have grown and they are not as out and as big, but I still feel like that little kid. What do you know about your birth experience?

Response: I do not know a lot of my birth since I was adopted, but I know some things. First I was born in Jacksonville Florida when my birth mom was 16 years old. I do not know if she has had any issues but I know I was delivered safely.  Summary: I will ask her soon how I was delivered. Reflection: I really like reading poems and I think they are interesting to dive deep into.
