Reflect on a time when you discovered a new perspective that completely changed how you viewed a person, group, or place. How did your previous “single story” shape your thoughts or actions?

Prompt Response: My mom has always been a Democrat. She says she is definitely a liberal and my dad and her have had some issues at the beginning of my life. My dad has never been republican but he has not always agreed with my moms views. Me and my dad have always gotten along much more than me and my mom. My mom came from a messed up family and my dad came from an amazing family. Growing up I always believed my mom's beliefs, but I did not realize how extreme she was. I decided to hear my dad's side and my moms. My dad is a middle ground person. He does not want to be on a specific political side and he has beliefs from both sides of the parties. Not until I started listening to what my dad was saying that I realized I liked my dads views more. I like how he is not quick to judge and wants a compromise instead of wanting to be completely right. He has really shaped who I am and why I believe the way I believe. 

Summary: I hope in the future people can be more like my dad and find a middle ground, instead of just fighting. 

Reflection: In class today I created this blog post and worked on the common lit.

My friend was cheating every weekend and her boyfriend knew but had no proof. I really liked my friend but it got to the point where I felt bad for her boyfriend. I eventually told him because she did not even want to be in a relationship but I still felt bad. I think that if she had cheated once but wanted to change I would have never told, but It was an ongoing situation. Summary: In class we read more but I had to leave early. Reflection: I am still really intrigued by this book and I think it shows real standards in real life.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.  Prompt Response:  When I was at my family's friends house I was playing hide and seek with my two friends. During this time their dad was around a lot and did not live in Vegas at this time. A few years later his wife divorced him and now he lives in Vegas. But, one day my friends and I were all hanging out and he came down. When I was younger my ears were more out and bigger. He said that my ears made me look like a monkey. And then my friends decided it was funny and started saying it too. I think that a father should not be making jokes about his daughters friends, but he did anyways. Now, since then I always want to cover my ears and not make them noticeable. I have realized that I have grown and they are not as out and as big, but I still feel like that little kid. What do you know about your birth experience?

Response: I do not know a lot of my birth since I was adopted, but I know some things. First I was born in Jacksonville Florida when my birth mom was 16 years old. I do not know if she has had any issues but I know I was delivered safely.  Summary: I will ask her soon how I was delivered. Reflection: I really like reading poems and I think they are interesting to dive deep into.
