Prompt:  As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester. Prompt Response:   This semester I really enjoyed this class, especially when we read The Color Purple . I liked how we went through each letter and you explained what was happening and what it meant. I also liked that we had a lot of different projects because they made the class more interesting and gave us different ways to show what we learned. One thing I still need to improve on is presenting, because I get nervous talking in front of the class and want to get more confident with that nex...

Prompt: Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does). Prompt Response:   A tradition that is important to my family is decorating the Christmas tree together. We drink hot chocolate, play music, and hang our favorite ornaments. This still matters because it’s one time when we’re all together and not on our phones. It makes our house feel cozy and reminds me that the holidays are really about family. Summary: I was not in class, but I completed the online assignment Reflection:  I am so glad the year is ending

Prompt: How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Prompt: How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning. Prompt Response: As I’ve gotten older, the holidays have become less about presents and more about spending time with family and appreciating our traditions. As a child, I was mostly excited about gifts and decorations, but now I also notice the work that goes into cooking, planning, and bringing everyone together. The holidays feel more meaningful because I understand how important it is to be grateful and make memories with the people I love.   Summary: I was not in class because I am unfortunately sick again.  Reflection:  I am super glad to be ending the year with an A.

Prompt: At the end of the novel, Celie reconnects with Nettie and forms more peaceful relationships with the people who once harmed her. Reflect on the theme of reconciliation. Have you ever restored a relationship, forgiven someone, or been forgiven in a way that changed you? How does the novel’s ending shape your understanding of forgiveness across different cultures or families? Prompt Response:  I have forgiven people multiple times and people have forgiven me. I think that in life it is super important to figive people and to learn from mistakes that maybe you have made or someone made to you. We only have one life and in this life if people don't get at least second chances it can end in a spiral of thoughts. It shows that forgiveness can go a long way and that even if you think you are 100 percent right its always good to look at the other persons side.  Summary: I was not in class because I did not feel well. Reflection:  I am glad we are finishing the book and I ...

Prompt: Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt:  Write about the best gift you have received.  Prompt Response:  The best gift I have ever received was definitely my car. I got my car two Christmases ago and it was a huge surprise. I really did not think I was going to get the car that I picked out. But my parents were nice enough to get me my dream car. They got me a jeep. I have had it for two years now and I still love it. When I got it for Christmas my parents had the best way to surprise me. They put the keys into multiple boxs, so it looked like I was getting a big present. As I opened it the boxs got smaller and smaller and smaller. Then when I got to the last box my keys were there and the car was in the garage. I was so surprised and I was so happy. Summary: In class we had to find something that Celie and Nettie said and we had to change the dialect of what we said. I thought it was a good way for me to understand what was happening in the book more. Reflection:  I am excited for break and I am g...

Prompt: When Celie says, “The God I been praying and writing to is a man. And act just like all the other mens I know,” she expresses disappointment, betrayal, and disillusionment. Discuss a moment in your own life when something you believed in turned out to be different than what you imagined. How did this realization shape your identity or worldview? Prompt Response:  When I was super little I believed in Santa Clause and the tooth fairy and things like that. I am pretty sure most kids go though this phase even if some don't believe as much as others. I wanted to believe so I think I believed a little bit longer. Once I realized things like that were not real I started to wonder why those things were made. As I have gone through life I have realized that we put distractions into life so that its not as depressing and boring. Without phones, candy, yummy food, movies, and other things that make people feel happy and different, our society would fail. If people did not have happin...

Prompt: Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Prompt: Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Describe what you would think, say, and do, and how this discovery would reshape how you see Mister and yourself. Reflect on why this moment would matter so much and how it would change your next choices. Prompt Response:  If I knew that someone was hiding something super important from me I would be devastated. I would not know how to react. In the case of Celie dealing with Mister I think its more challenging. Even though Celie has gained more confidence in herself, he is still strong and has the power to do what he wants. I think in these next steps she should talk to Shug and figure out the best case of what to do and how to do it. I think I would use the information maybe as leverage to let Nettie back into the house or try to secretly send Nettie letters. Summary: I am still enjoying this book and I am just waiting for the final Letters. Reflection:  I think that If I was in...

Prompt:  In Letters 46–50, Celie begins to see Albert more clearly—his flaws, his regrets, and the ways he changes when he is no longer in complete control of her. Their relationship slowly shifts from fear and dominance to honesty and distance. Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve? Prompt Response:  The relationship between my mom and I changed as I grew older. When I was younger she was nicer to me even though we still did not get a long the best. As I grew older I compared our relationship to others and knew something was different. As I got older I learned about her past and how she was abused mentally and physically. She then mentally started doing the same to me. I realized after forgiving and trying to understand for so long that nothing would change. Now, around my mom I always have my guard up. I still love her because she is my ...
